I feel like I could copy and paste last week’s blog post here. Abuse is abuse. Abuse, in many forms, is very common. It doesn’t only happen to women, I’m just focusing on women since it is a women’s season. About 1 in 3 women will experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime. 1 in 3. That number is way, way too high.

It needs to change, but I don’t have an exact answer. I don’t think there is a perfect answer. We need an overhaul in our society. We have a persistent rape culture that extends into other aspects of life. Grrrr….

Deep breath. Okay. Moving on a little bit. Narcissism. I didn’t have any idea what it was for a long time. It’s been something in more recent years that I learned more about. If you don’t know what a narcissist is, here is a definition from mayoclinic.org. “Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others.” You can read more about it on their website here.

Getting out of a toxic relationship is not easy. I get it. I’ve never had to get out of this extreme of a toxic relationship, but I have had to end toxic relationships, so I know how hard it can be. It’s difficult, but vital to your well-being. You deserve love, kindness, and respect. If you aren’t getting that, get out of the relationship. Setting boundaries when there has never been boundaries before is not an easy process. But it is absolutely possible.

You are worthy. You deserve happiness. You deserve joy. You deserve love. You deserve the best. Now say it to yourself. Over, and over, and over again. You are worthy. I am worthy.

Nanette suggested the books below, so check them out.
