Ben was an amazing, beautiful person. He was an activist and champion for the marginalized, including People of Color, the LGBTQ+ community, and women’s rights. I hope that through this episode, the quotes from it below, and the links provided, will allow you the opportunity to get to know this great man.

“They asked me how it was that I saw them so clearly that I could know things that I shouldn’t be able to know... and what I said was, Well, when I look at somebody, I assume that they’re better than I am, and then I look for it. And I always find it.”

“The kind of connection that happens in teaching is... well and in acting, as well, at least I think it can or should. The kind of connection that can happen there, is so beautiful, and to watch someone get it, to watch someone come alive, it’s indescribable.”

“I would continue to teach regardless of whether or not somebody paid me.”

“I think we hide a lot as human beings. I think it’s one of the things that we’re kinda taught to do almost right from the beginning... And almost always, the things that we’re hiding are so beautiful. They’re so amazing, they’re so unique and special and precious. And yet we end up hiding it away because we’re afraid that it’s gonna get damaged.”

“But I really do believe that when someone does something hurtful, that they’re doing it out of hurt. That it’s not because they’re a bad person, it’s because they’re in pain, or they’re ashamed, or they’re afraid. And if I can be gentle in those moments, beautiful things happen.”
