Mo has been through so much and is still such a lovely person. It’s always interesting to me that many times, the people who have been through the most, are some of the kindest people. She even talks a little bit about how her experiences have allowed her to be more compassionate and empathetic to others. I think there is so much truth to that. Your struggles and experiences help you to connect to others more deeply. I never wish hard times on anyone. Ever. But part of life is hard times.
Difficult experiences simultaneously harden you and soften you. They harden you in that you realize you are strong. You become stronger. Harder. At the same time becoming softer. Softer to those around you. Softer to other people’s suffering. Of course, the softness all depends on you. On if you work through everything. When you hold things in and bottle them up, it comes under pressure. When something goes under intense pressure, it will explode. That is inevitable. So the same goes for when you bottle up your emotions. They will explode at some time. But if you take the time to sit with yourself and work through everything, nothing comes under pressure. When you talk with someone to help you work through things, it releases any pressure that might have been building up.
You never know what hard times are going to come your way. Unfortunately. Wouldn’t it be nice if you knew what was coming so you could start preparing? If only... That’s not how it works. You don’t get to pick and choose what is going to come your way. You do, however, get to choose how you are going to work through it. Whether you are going to work through it or let it consume you. I hope that during the hard times, you will give yourself love and grace. (Seeing a pattern here yet?) Give yourself the chance to feel your emotions. Don’t push them away or bottle them up.
Feel them.
Process them.
It might take time. It usually does. That’s okay. Talk with a friend if you need. Talk with a therapist if you need. Get the help you need so that you can keep going and be the best you possible. Because you are amazing.
And the world needs you.
