"Gray Area" with Lizzie Mickelsen Kayleen Jean Johnson

This episode is so amazing. Lizzie is fun and brings such a real, raw, vulnerable voice and it is simply beautiful. Her willingness to talk about her experience with sexual assault is stunning and brave.

The #metoo movement really brought to light how big of a problem sexual assault is. I hardly know any women who don’t have a story. Which is awful.

If you are struggling, reach out and get help. If you are ready, speak up about it. Speak up and speak out about your experience. Talking about it raises awareness. It also gives other women the permission to talk about it. It isn’t a taboo subject. It shouldn’t be a taboo subject. So if you’re ready to add your voice, do it. We need your voice.

I want to remind you, also, that you’re amazing. I’ll just quote what I said in the episode. “Know that you are amazing. And you will be okay. You may not be okay right now. But you will be okay. You will get there. And it doesn’t matter how long that takes, it might take a day, it might take a month, it might take a year... you will be okay.”

And I’m going to follow that up and end with a quote from a Lizzie.

“Maybe one day you’ll feel better and then the next your like, I thought I was feeling better but maybe I’m not, and that’s fine too. It’s not a straight line of healing, it’s always like this weird zig zag of like, up and down days.”
